aHO Approved treatments

Overview

Treatment of acquired hypothalamic obesity (aHO), which often requires a different approach from standard obesity treatment, may include a combination of lifestyle changes, medications, and weight loss surgery. Currently, one therapy is specifically approved for aHO.

Imcivree

Imcivree (setmelanotide) is a therapy approved to help support and maintain weight loss in children and adults with aHO. Given via under-the-skin injections once daily, it works to reduce hunger by restoring activity in the MC4R signalling pathway, which regulates appetite and energy use.
